Stollen

Part of our Christms tradition is to make Christmas Stollen on Christmas Eve -there is no point making it before because it gets eaten straight away. The recipe we use is quite variable and based on a simple bread loaf mix, so if you fancy something more challenging than mince pies here is your chance to have a go. We are making another batch (a box does 2 loaves) for New Year’s Eve.

One pack of bread loaf mix (yeast variety) inc milk/water to mix etc
marzipan
glace cherries
dried mixed fruit
egg (optional)
packet of 4 cheese sauce mix (optional)

Make up the dough as for the loaf mix, adding all the ingredients except the marzipan. Shape the marzipan into a rough cylinder and place in the middle of the loaf ie, put half the dough in the tin, lay the marzipan on top and cover with the other half of the dough, then bake per the instructions on the box. Yumm!
